An individual was injured in an automobile accident, and exhausted the minimum automobile medical benefits available from insurance. We were able to convince a private health insurance carrier to provide benefits for the catastrophically injured client and wait to receive payment until after the trial against the negligent driver. At the conclusion of the case, the private health insurance carrier was reimbursed in full for all medical services rendered and a trust was set up to meet the client's lifetime medical needs.Today, federal and state governmental insurance plans are either refusing to pay the cost for catastrophic care or reimbursing at such a low rate that they are essentially not paying. It is vital that all health care providers explore more creative ways to provide their services and also get paid.
