My client was driving an automobile and was broadsided by another vehicle. As a result of the impact, the side door collapsed into the body of the car, causing major structural damage to the car, and traumatic brain injury to the driver. I hired an expert to evaluate the car, and he issued a report that the side door was defectively designed, in that it should have had reinforcement to prevent the inward collapse. This case emphasizes that you should not permit your automobile insurance company to salvage or destroy your vehicle before an expert retained by you or your attorney has had an opportunity to inspect it.
