Mr. Romano limits his practice to the following areas: Catastrophic injury and illness; health care; medical negligence; managed care appeals; automobile accidents and injuries; worker's compensation accidents; special education benefits; sports and recreational injuries; and product defects. Mr. Romano represents clients throughout the United States, and maintains offices in Norristown, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Camp Hill, Wilkes-Barre, Lancaster, and Allentown, PA. In October 1997, The Wall Street Journal profiled Mr. Romano in a section on managed care and insurance, entitled 'The Patients - To their defense'. In 1996 Mr. Romano was the only attorney selected to join leading medical experts in the field of traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, in writing a treatise entited "NEUROTRAUMA". His chapter is entitled "Medico-Legal Aspects of Head and Spinal Injury". Since 1998, he has published six editions of Legal Rights of the Catastrophically III and Injured and Their Families. Mr Romano has written over 200 articles on the medical/legal/ethical field. He has authored numerous educational brochures. His latest are Cancer, Brain Injuries, Spinal Cord Injuries: Challenging HMO Guidelines - Are Patients Powerful or Powerless? and Cancer: Your Right to Treatment - Funding and Appeals, © 1999. Mr. Romano has received many awards and honors: 1991 - American Trauma Society, PA Division - In recognition of Trauma Prevention Education. 1989 - Honoree - Keystone State Head Injury Foundation - Second Annual Celebration of Stars. October 1987 - Family members of the PA State Association of the National Head Injury Foundation. Mr. Romano has been co-counsel or counsel in more than 100 cases that resulted in million dollar recoveries for catastrophically ill or injured individuals. In 1999, he was co-counsel in a trial of a young boy who had his foot amputated in an escalator. The trial resulted in the largest personal injury verdict in the history of Pennsylvania - $51 million. In 1995, Mr. Romano was co-counsel in a trial of a recreational accident, which resulted in a $24 million verdict - at that time this was Pennsylvania's largest personal injury verdict. In 1997, he was co-counsel in a premises liability trial that resulted in a $19, 978, 435 verdict - the largest personal injury verdict in the history of Delaware. In 1998, he was co-counsel in a product liability trial against a nationally know helmet manufacturer which resulted in a $6.8 million verdict. Mr. Romano is a nationally recognized guest
lecturer in medical, legal, funding, and ethical issues that affect the
catastrophically ill and injured and their families. He has lectured at
hospitals, trauma centers, family support groups, and related organizations.
He is active in numerous associations and committees, advocating for the
legal rights of TBI patients, SCI patients, burn survivors, cancer survivors,
cerebral palsy patients and other catastrophically ill and injured persons.
